From Paper to Art

I was born in Istanbul in 1987. My childhood was shaped by journeys to the Northern Aegean with my family. The warm and sincere atmosphere of this geography, intertwined with nature, became an important part of my life.

I graduated from Ege University with a degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management, and during my university education, I also studied for a semester at Groupe ESC Troyes Champagne School of Management in France. This experience allowed me to get to know different cultures and broaden my perspective.

My interest in art was shaped by a talent I share with my father: the ability to turn everything into value. This understanding, instilled by my father from childhood, taught me not only the joy of creating but also how to look at life from a completely different perspective. His creative mind, hard work, and patience nurtured my love for art and increased my courage to create. My father's presence is not just a support in my workshop, but also an endless source of inspiration for me.

Today, inspired by the natural beauty, extraordinary colors, and textures of the Aegean, I bring lighting, object, and coffee table designs to life. I work meticulously with doughs made from recycled papers, egg cartons and newspaper, and give life to my designs with a tactile aesthetic. Each product reflects my belief in sustainability and my desire to create a life in harmony with nature.

In this journey where art, history, and nature come together, I find great joy in creating a space where I can express myself and touch people's lives.

Muzaffer Marangoz, was born in 1960 in Ordu, Türkiye. He spent his childhood and youth in Istanbul. His longing for a life close to nature and the sea eventually led our family to settle in a peaceful coastal town in the Northern Aegean. This decision brought us closer to nature and deeply influenced the way we live and create.

Our family's history in woodworking dates back to my great-grandfather. Our surname, Marangoz, which means “carpenter” in Turkish, has become a symbol of our creativity and craftsmanship passed down through generations.

My father is known not only for the things he builds from scratch but also for his ability to repair broken items and transform them into something entirely new and useful. His resourcefulness and care have always inspired me.

Even today, my parents spend as much time as possible in nature. My father’s wisdom and experience, combined with the colors and textures of the natural world, continue to be a constant source of inspiration for me—reflected in the unique lighting pieces, decorative objects, and tables I design.

On some mornings, my father stops by my workshop, and we share a cup of coffee while talking in depth about the pieces I’m working on. These conversations often lead to new ideas. His insight helps me refine my creations, and having this shared creative process with him is something I deeply value.
